Micro Neo Technology International Limited (MNT) respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our website (mnt.hk) and our WhatsApp-based grading service (MNT Grader).
Information We Collect
We may collect: your name and email when you sign in via Clerk; messages you post on our message board; approximate geographic location (country) derived from your IP address; and standard web analytics data.
WhatsApp Grading Service
MNT Grader is an AI-powered essay grading and learning diagnostics service delivered via WhatsApp. When you use this service, we collect: your WhatsApp phone number (used as your identity — no separate registration required); essay content submitted as text, photos, or PDF documents; and AI-generated grading reports including scores, error analysis, and improvement plans. Essay submissions and grading reports are stored in a dedicated, isolated database. Your phone number is required to deliver results and is never shared with third parties.
AI Processing and De-identification
Before sending essay content to our AI provider for grading, we apply de-identification to remove personal identifiers including phone numbers, Hong Kong identity card numbers, and email addresses from the text. The AI provider processes the de-identified content solely to generate grading reports and does not retain or use your data for model training. We are committed to maintaining zero-retention and no-training agreements with our AI providers.
Children's Data and Parental Consent
Our grading service is designed for students who may be minors. In compliance with the Hong Kong Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PDPO), we require explicit parental or guardian consent before processing any student's essay. Consent is obtained through our WhatsApp consent mechanism — a parent or guardian must reply 'Agree' before any grading takes place. Consent may be withdrawn at any time by replying 'Stop', which will immediately halt processing and delete all associated submissions.
How We Use Information
We use collected information to operate and improve our website, moderate message board content, respond to enquiries, and provide our services. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
Third-Party Services
We use Clerk for authentication, Supabase for data storage, Vercel for hosting, and ip-api.com for geolocation. Each service has its own privacy policy.
Data Retention and Deletion
Website data (message board posts, authentication records) is retained for as long as your account exists. Grading service data (essays, reports) is retained to provide learning trend analysis across multiple submissions. You may request deletion of all your data at any time by replying 'Stop' in WhatsApp (for grading data) or by emailing contact@mnt.hk (for website data). Upon receiving a deletion request, we will remove your data within 7 business days.
Cross-border Data Transfer
Essay content (after de-identification) may be transferred to AI service providers located outside Hong Kong for processing. Hong Kong does not impose mandatory data localisation requirements. We ensure that any cross-border transfer is subject to contractual safeguards including zero-retention and no-training obligations on the part of the receiving provider.
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us at contact@mnt.hk. We will respond within 30 days.
